About
RRSEU stands for Rio Rancho School Employees’ Union. RRSEU is the advocate for all school employees in Rio Rancho. We work for better learning conditions for children and better working conditions for teachers and other school employees. As the exclusive (employee elected) bargaining agent for all Rio Rancho employees, RRSEU works to secure rights and fair benefits and compensation for members through collective bargaining.
Who’s Eligible to become a member?
All non-supervisory and non-confidential employees are eligible to join RRSEU. Teachers, counselors, librarians and other non-supervisory certified staff can join. Educational assistants, secretaries, custodians and maintenance workers and other non-certified staff can join RRSEU.
Who runs RRSEU?
The members in Rio Rancho run RRSEU. The members democratically elect officers who set policy. Policy is also set by RRSEU building reps who meet monthly.
What organizations is RRSEU affiliated with?
RRSEU is a ground breaking organization. It is affiliated with both of the major school employee unions: American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and National Education Association (NEA). On the state level we’re affiliated with New Mexico Federation of Educational Employees and NEA-New Mexico. We’re also affiliated with the AFL-CIO.
Why is it important to be a member of RRSEU?
Simple. There’s strength in numbers. The more members we have, the more likely we are to accomplish our goals of better learning conditions for students and better working conditions for employees.
